Skokie tree rules we plan around
- Parkway trees belong to the Village, which prunes each one every five to six years. Removing any parkway tree requires a permit.
- If a private tree 8 inches or wider has to come out because of construction, that also needs a permit.
- Trees affected by construction need protective fencing around them. We plan patio and grading work with that built in.
- The Village runs a free parkway tree planting program. Call Public Works if your parkway spot is empty.
Before any digging, we request a JULIE utility locate (811), as Illinois law requires.
Year-round care in Skokie
Lawn care in Skokie
We have regular lawn clients in Skokie. Most yards are established lots with big Village parkway trees out front, and shade from those trees is the main reason Skokie lawns thin out. We mow at the right height for shade and recommend overseeding with shade-tolerant seed in September.

Do you offer weekly lawn mowing in Skokie?
Yes. We mow weekly, never every other week, from spring green-up through late fall. Every visit includes trimming, edging and blowing hard surfaces clean. Most residential lawns run $50–$150 per visit depending on size. Book a free estimate for an exact price.
Can you trim the tree in my parkway?
No. Parkway trees belong to the Village, and Skokie handles their pruning. Contact Public Works at 847-933-8427. We take care of the shrubs and plantings on your own property.
I want a patio near a big tree. Is that a problem?
Not usually, but it has to be planned. We keep excavation out of the root zone where we can and put up the protection fencing the Village requires.
Do you plow in Skokie?
Yes. Seasonal contracts or per-event service for driveways and walks, with a 2″ trigger.
